BASECAMP KITCHEN | UNIVERSAL CITY, CA

A corporate client needed to provide additional food service for its visitors and employees at their large campus located in Universal City, California. It was critical that the construction of this restaurant be as quick as possible and provide minimal disruption the to very active, busy campus.

We worked with the on-site food service team to design a restaurant capable of providing upwards of 1500 meals per service. The restaurant is composed of four containers and includes a double cookline, preparation space, coffee service, walk-in refrigerator, dry goods storage, self-service ordering kiosks, employee bathroom, and a second-story container above the cookline that houses all the mechanical equipment and provides branding and signage.

The design enabled an outdoor trash area to be hidden between two containers and enclosed with an attractive wooden fence. A crane was used to place the containers in the early morning hours thereby preventing disruption to the daily routine.
